Expert Mathematics Tuition
Oxford and Imperial College graduate
I'm an Oxford graduate and qualified teacher (PGCE) with experience helping students grow in confidence and achieve great results in Mathematics.
A-Level and GCSE Maths
A lot of my work is with A-Level Maths and Further Maths students. I can help in all areas of the course including Mechanics, Statistics and Decision modules up to a high level, including the new material for 2017.
I have a broad experience of teaching GCSE. I encourage students to take Higher GCSE but I will recommend Foundation GCSE if it's appropriate. I also have experience in Additional Maths FSMQ, GCSE Statistics and IGCSE.
My goal is to make sure that everything is understandable in a clear and simple way so that we can build steadily on good groundwork.
I often teach in London around: Barnet (Finchley, Golders Green), Haringey (Crouch End, Muswell Hill), Islington (Archway, Highbury), Hackney, City of London, City of Westminster (Marylebone, Mayfair, St John's Wood), Camden (Hampstead, Swiss Cottage), Kensington and Chelsea.
I occasionally arrange online lessons on Skype. I prefer to meet face-to-face for a first session.
I can help with specific high level Mathematics and Statistics and I'm happy to offer this. I've tutored bankers, neuroscientists, Harvard university students, and surgeons, and I've given statistical advice to TV game shows.
Tutoring sessions with me have a student-led style - we will normally cover anything the student wants help with, whether that is extra help to keep up with classwork, building on a weak area, or trying more challenging questions. As lessons progress, I ensure we are guided by the syllabus content and I will often use past exam papers and exam-style questions to make sure my students are fully prepared.
I have had success with 11+, 13+ and sixth form entrance exams including entrance to: City of London, CLSG, Harrow, Highgate, South Hampsted High School, St Paul's, St Paul's Girls, Westminster, using the ISEB exams and the school's own exams.
My fees are available on request. I charge more than the average tutor due to high demand for my expertise.
My work extends beyond exam technique into advice for UCAS university applications and Personal Statements. We can discuss how best to meet grade requirements safely and pass the tests, including STEP, Medicine, and Oxbridge entrance (MAT, TSA - Thinking Skills Assessment).
I have practical experience of using maths: I've designed a successful puzzle app for iPhone, and I've worked in Statistical Genetics research (MSc Imperial College London). Students value my insight into how maths can be used in real world applications.
I have helped people through graduate aptitude testing including the GRE and GMAT.
I have knowledge of US University entrance requirements. I recently scored 2390 in the SAT, plus Subject Tests at 800 for Math Level I and II and even 780 for Biology. I've helped British and American students reach the same level.
Contact me to arrange a first session. I work as a tutor full-time so we should be able to arrange a time.
Good luck with your studies :)
